Helping organisations better engage, support and develop the men in their workforce.
Men's mental fitness is not simply a wellbeing issue. It can influence confidence, communication, relationships, resilience, leadership and performance — yet conversations around these areas don't always engage men in the same way as traditional wellbeing initiatives.
The Wingman Project helps organisations create practical, male-focused programmes that give men the opportunity to understand themselves better, develop useful skills and have conversations that might otherwise never happen. Our men's mental fitness programmes help organisations create practical, engaging ways for men to understand their mental fitness, manage pressure and develop the skills to support their wellbeing and performance.
The aim isn't to create another wellbeing initiative that people attend and forget. It's to give men practical tools they can use in their work, relationships and everyday lives.
Organisations invest heavily in wellbeing, inclusion and employee development, yet some men can remain difficult to engage in conversations around mental health, wellbeing and personal development. That doesn't mean men don't want support. Sometimes the language, format or setting simply doesn't feel relevant to them.
There is a place within a broader wellbeing and inclusion strategy for initiatives that create space for men and are designed with men in mind. This isn't about treating men differently. It's about creating an approach that feels accessible, practical and relevant — and opening conversations that might otherwise go unspoken.
The Wingman Project helps organisations engage men through practical, structured programmes focused on mental fitness, communication, confidence, resilience and performance.
Mental fitness includes looking after your mental health, but goes further. It's about developing the confidence, resilience, self-awareness and practical skills to navigate pressure, change and challenge, build stronger relationships and perform at your best.
The Wingman Project wants to make it normal for men to invest in their mental fitness and helps organisations create the environments, conversations and programmes that enable them to do so.
Our programmes address different aspects of men's mental fitness, from understanding how the brain works and building better conversations to managing pressure, developing leadership capability and supporting young male talent. Each programme can stand alone or be combined with others to create a broader development programme for your organisation.
Men's Mental Fitness
What does it mean to be mentally fit, and can mental fitness be developed?
This programme explores the habits of mentally fit men, alongside practical neuroscience to help participants understand why we think, feel and behave as we do. Men develop practical tools, routines and behaviours they can use to strengthen their mental fitness in much the same way that we work on our physical fitness.
Some people may have a natural predisposition towards physical fitness, but that doesn't stop the rest of us training. Mental fitness can be approached in much the same way.
Better Conversations
Better conversations start with better understanding, of ourselves as well as other people.
Drawing on practical psychology and communication frameworks, including Transactional Analysis and NLP, this programme helps participants understand how mood, emotional state, behavioural patterns and different communication styles can influence the way we interact with others.
Participants develop greater awareness of their own patterns and practical ways to communicate more effectively, navigate difficult conversations and build stronger relationships at work and beyond.
Leadership Under Pressure
Pressure changes the way we think, communicate and behave — often at precisely the moment when leadership matters most.
Combining leadership coaching with practical neuroscience, this programme helps participants understand what happens to the brain and behaviour under pressure, recognise their own patterns and develop tools to respond more intentionally.
The aim is to help leaders remain clearer in their thinking, more flexible in their behaviour and more effective in their communication when the stakes are high.
High Performance Without Burnout
Organisations want talented people to perform, develop and take on greater responsibility. But sustained performance shouldn't require people to continually operate at the limits of their capacity.
Under pressure, men can respond by working harder, narrowing their focus and communicating less — behaviours that may deliver in the short term but become counterproductive when sustained.
This programme helps participants understand the relationship between pressure, performance and recovery, recognise their own warning signs and develop practical habits that support sustainable high performance.
Developing Young Male Talent
The transition into working life and the early stages of a career can bring new pressures around confidence, identity, relationships, expectations and performance.
Building on the principles of mental fitness and better conversations, this programme gives young men practical tools to understand themselves, communicate more effectively, manage pressure and develop the confidence and self-awareness needed to progress.
Our programmes are designed to be practical, structured and engaging rather than traditional group therapy or wellbeing sessions. Individual programmes typically run across four sessions, while organisations combining a number of themes can create an eight-to-twelve-week programme. Sessions are designed for groups of around 10–15 men, allowing enough space for participation, discussion and practical work.
Men aren't expected to disclose personal experiences or discuss their past. Instead, we focus on understanding how we think and behave, developing practical tools and creating opportunities for reflection, discussion and application.
The approach is designed to encourage participation without putting anyone on the spot. Where appropriate, programmes can also be complemented by one-to-one coaching for individual participants or leaders.
The outcomes will depend on the programme, participants and objectives agreed with the organisation.
For organisations, the aim is to create more confident, resilient and engaged people who are better equipped to manage pressure, communicate effectively and contribute positively to their teams and workplace culture.
Programmes are designed to support improvements in areas including:
Where appropriate, we can agree measures with the organisation at the outset and evaluate progress through participant feedback, engagement measures and relevant internal people metrics.
The Wingman Project brings together a distinctive combination of men's psychology, professional coaching, practical neuroscience and solution-focused practice, alongside more than 30 years of commercial experience, including over 20 years in senior leadership.
That combination means our programmes are grounded in an understanding of both how people think and behave and the realities of organisational life. The aim isn't simply to create an interesting conversation for an hour. It's to give men practical understanding and tools they can use at work, at home and in the pressures of everyday life.

Why have a programme specifically for men?
Different groups can experience and respond to workplace challenges in different ways. Organisations have increasingly created spaces and programmes designed around the experiences of particular groups, and we believe there is also value in creating space designed with men in mind.
The Wingman Project exists to make it normal for men to invest in their mental fitness and to help organisations create conversations and programmes that enable them to do so.
Does this exclude women?
No. The Wingman Project works with both women and men through executive coaching and wider organisational work.
Our Men's Mental Fitness programmes are specifically designed around the experiences and engagement of men. Where appropriate, we are also happy to discuss adapting topics for mixed groups or wider organisational audiences.
How does this fit within our existing wellbeing or inclusion strategy?
Men's Mental Fitness can sit alongside existing wellbeing, inclusion, employee assistance and development initiatives rather than replacing them.
The programmes provide a practical, male-focused approach to areas such as confidence, resilience, communication, mental fitness and performance. They can also complement Men's Networks, Employee Resource Groups, leadership development and wider people programmes.
The aim is to create another accessible route into conversations and development that some men may not engage with through traditional wellbeing initiatives.
Can solution focused hypnotherapy be included?
Yes. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can be incorporated into both group programmes and individual support where it adds value. In a group setting, therapeutic trance and solution-focused techniques can be used to support areas such as confidence, emotional regulation, resilience and managing pressure.
Any use of hypnotherapy would be explained in advance and agreed with the organisation and participants. It would form part of the overall programme where appropriate, rather than being assumed to be included in every programme.
Is this therapy?
The programmes are designed as workplace development rather than traditional group therapy. They combine coaching, psychology, practical neuroscience and solution focused approaches, with hypnotherapy techniques incorporated where appropriate.
Participants aren't expected to disclose personal experiences or explore their past in a group setting. The emphasis is on understanding how we think and behave, developing practical tools and putting those tools into practice.
Where someone needs individual therapeutic support, that would be treated separately and appropriately.
What size groups do you work with?
Group size can be adapted to the programme, but our core interactive sessions are designed for up to 15 participants. This provides enough diversity for useful discussion while ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.
For larger audiences, workshops and speaking sessions can be delivered in a different format
How long does a programme run?
A standalone programme typically consists of four sessions. Organisations can also combine themes into a broader programme running over eight to twelve weeks.
The structure, frequency and content can be adapted around the organisation's objectives and participants.
Can programmes be tailored to our organisation?
Yes. We start by understanding your organisation, your people and what you want to achieve, then tailor the content and format accordingly.
If the challenge you're looking to address isn't covered by one of the programmes above, let's talk. We can explore whether a bespoke programme would be more appropriate.
Let's start the conversation!
